The spiritual leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and Caucasus region extends congratulations to the Muslim Council of Elders on occasion of its tenth anniversary


His Eminence Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh: The formation of the Muslim Council of Elders is a historical event that was founded in response to the demands of the modern era and the pressing need for wise scholars who represent the Islamic world in addressing contemporary challenges.



His Eminence Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders and the spiritual leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and the wider Caucasus region, extended his congratulations to the Muslim Council of Elders, chaired by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, esteemed Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Council’s President, on the occasion of its tenth anniversary.

In his statement, His Eminence Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh remarked that the establishment of the Muslim Council of Elders is a historic event; it emerged in response to the demands of the modern era and the pressing need for wise scholars representing the Islamic world in addressing contemporary challenges. He noted that the Council, under the leadership of His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, esteemed Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif, has evolved into a global platform reflecting the aspirations of the Islamic community for peace, tolerance, and mutual peaceful coexistence. It presents a noble and exalted view of the Islamic faith to the world.

His Eminence Pashazadeh urged decision-makers and policymakers worldwide to leverage the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders in promoting and reinforcing a culture of tolerance, coexistence, and mutual respect among peoples and nations. He expressed his hopes for the Council to continue making progress and achieving success in realizing its noble and lofty goals, serving Islam, Muslims, and all of humanity.


The Muslim Council of Elders is an independent international body established in Abu Dhabi on the 21st of Ramadan 1435 AH (July 19, 2014). It is led by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif. The Council includes several scholars and dignitaries known for their wisdom, moderation, justice, and independence. It aims to promote peace in Muslim and non-Muslim societies and to spread values of dialogue, tolerance, and human coexistence.
