His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has issued a decree announcing His Excellency Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs in the Kingdom of Bahrain, as the newest member of the Muslim Council of Elders. 

His Excellency Sheikh Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Khalifa is considered one of the most prominent religious figures in the Arabian Gulf having served in various senior religious positions within the Kingdom of Bahrain. He previously headed the Supreme Court in Bahrain having been in the judicial system since 1960, as well as presiding over the Board of Directors of the Bahrain Islamic Bank.
