Grand Imam praises UAE for patronage of the Document on Human Fraternity


Ministry of Tolerance delegation looking forward to cooperating with the Muslim Council of Elders


His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has met a delegation from the United Arab Emirates’ Ministry of Tolerance headed by H.E. Afraa Al Saberi in the run up to the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions which will take place on 14 and 15 September 2022 in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan. Also attending the meeting was H.E. Dr. Mohamed Saeed Alariqi, the UAE’s Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan and Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders.


The Grand Imam expressed his appreciation of the United Arab Emirates and its continued efforts in spreading global peace, particularly through its patronage of the historic Document on Human Fraternity. The Grand Imam added that under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, the nation will continue to be a unique symbol of coexistence and tolerance that also spreads peace on a global level.


For her part, H.E. Afraa Al Saberi revealed the Ministry of Tolerance’s deep adulation of the Grand Imam and his efforts in spreading the true image of Islam internationally. She also thanked the Muslim Council of Elders for being a beacon of Islamic unity and supporting Islamic causes globally. She concluded by expressing a willingness to cooperate with the Council on a number of initiatives that serve humanity and counter extremism and racism.
