Muslim Council of Elders and Georgetown University collaborate on ‘Building Interreligious Solidarity’ conference

The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam is set to participate in the ‘Building Interreligious Solidarity’ conference hosted by Georgetown University, in partnership with the Muslim Council of Elders and the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity. The event will feature over 100 university students from around the world and includes speeches by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders and Her Excellency Shamma Al Mazrui, Minister of State for Youth in the United Arab Emirates. 


The conference aims to build on the historic Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed in 2019 by Muslim Council of Elders Chairman His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church, under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates.


The conference includes a number of sessions featuring prominent religious leaders and government officials as well as presentations from participating students aimed at spreading the values of human fraternity, peace and coexistence.
