Muslim Council of Elders Strongly Condemns Terrorist Attacks in Mali

The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, strongly condemned the terrorist attacks that targeted several areas in the Republic of Mali, resulting in the deaths and injuries of several people.

The Council reaffirmed its categorical rejection of all forms of violence, terrorism, and extremism, stressing that the targeting of civilians and the terrorization of innocent people constitute a heinous crime that is in clear violation of the tolerant teachings of Islam, all divine laws, and international norms, conventions, and legislation. It further called for the strengthening of joint international efforts to combat terrorism, address its root causes, and promote the values of dialogue and tolerance, in a manner that contributes to the achievement of security, stability, and lasting peace.

The Muslim Council of Elders extended its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and to the government and people of the Republic of Mali, praying for the speedy recovery of those injured.
