Datuk Senator Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri: Celebrating the International Day of Human Fraternity is a celebration of the humanity of divine religion



Datuk Senator Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, Malaysia's former Minister of Religious Affairs and member of the Muslim Council of Elders has noted that celebrating the International Day of Human Fraternity is a celebration of the humanity of divine religion.


The member of the Muslim Council of Elders added, “Celebrating the International Day of Human Fraternity also reflects Islam's unequivocal appeal for mutual respect and understanding among adherents of all faiths in order to create a better society where tolerance, fraternity, and solidarity are the standard. I sincerely hope that we are able to find practical and effective solutions to current global challenges, particularly those involving the afflicted, displaced, and refugees.”


Al-Bakri expressed his admiration of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church for their efforts and the sacrifices committed by the pair to produce the Document on Human Fraternity.


Malaysia's former Minister of Religious Affairs also thanked His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates for sponsoring and supporting the Document on Human Fraternity. 


Every 4th of February, the world celebrates the ‘International Day of Human Fraternity’ which marks the anniversary of the co-signing of the Document on Human Fraternity by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church in Abu Dhabi in 2019.
