His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church has received members of the Higher Committee working to implement the goals of the Human Fraternity Document who met for the first time on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Bishop Miguel Ayuso Guixot was chosen as President of the Committee for a one-year term to be followed by another one-year term by fellow Committee member, Dr Mohamed Mahrasawi, President of Al-Azhar University.

Mohamed Abdel Salam, the former adviser to His Eminence the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar was chosen as Secretary of the Committee which also includes Dr Sultan Al Remeithi, Yasser Hareb Almuhairi and Msgr. Yoannis Lahzi Gaid.

The Committee also identified several concrete initiatives to initiate its activity which will be ratified by His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders as well as His Holiness Pope Francis, Pope of the Catholic Church.
