The Muslim Council of Elders’ stand at the New Delhi World Book Fair witnessed a strong attendance by fair visitors on the first day of the fair which is taking place in the Indian capital Delhi. Attendees included various intellectual, religious and academic figures within Indian society.
Likewise, a strong presence of school and university students were in attendance at the Council’s stand in search of the latest publications on offer that promote tolerance, dialogue and counter hate.
Prominent books include ‘Tafsir Al Quran’, ’The Pope and the Grand Imam: A Thorny Path’ by the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalm, ‘Clarifying the Message of Tawhid’, ‘The Science of Fiqh’, ‘Basis of Understanding’, ‘Islam and Good Governance’ and ‘Understanding of Jihad in Islam’ among a total of 160 publications on offer.
The Council is also set to host the first of its planned seminars on the second day of the fair titled 'Strengthening Dialogue and Coexistence' which will feature Professor Syed Irfan Habib, Historian and Author of Science and Political History and Father M. D. Thomas, Founder and Director of the Institute of Harmony and Peace Studies.
This is set to be the Council’s first ever participation at the New Delhi World Book Fair, which is considered to be one of the prime literary events in Asia. The participation is part of His Eminence the Grand Imam’s vision of promoting dialogue and spreading tolerance and peace globally as well as building bridges of cooperation with people of all backgrounds.
