Secretary-General of Muslim Council of Elders meets Professor of Catholic Theology at Sarajevo University
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met Dr. Franjo Topic, Professor of Catholic Theology at Sarajevo University at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting discussed potential ways to promote interfaith and intercultural dialogue and was attended by His Excellency Sherif Mukanovic, Ambassador of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the United Arab Emirates.
During the meeting, Professor Topic expressed his admiration of the Council under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for its efforts in promoting dialogue and coexistence. He also noted the 2019 Document on Human Fraternity, which was co-signed by the Grand Imam and Pope Francis in Abu Dhabi, which in turn inspired him to establish the 'Human Fraternity Foundation' in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina Sarajevo.
For his part, Judge Abdelsalam noted Bosnia and Herzegovina's multi-ethnic and multi-religious society which is a perfect embodiment of the values of human fraternity. He added that the Muslim Council of Elders, as an international organization, conducts many initiatives globally that promote interfaith dialogue. This, he noted, is set to extend in the coming period with new initiatives between the Muslim Council of Elders and the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
