Two radio programs by Muslim Council of Elders branches in Indonesia and Malaysia during the holy month of Ramadan
Under the Chairmanship of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and as part of its efforts to promote dialogue, tolerance and coexistence the Muslim Council of Elders’ branches in Indonesia and Malaysia have launched two radio programs during the holy month of Ramadan. These programs will be presented by various prominent scholars and will focus on human and moral values related to the holy month.
In Indonesia, the Muslim Council of Elders’ branch in partnership with Radio Shanta will broadcast a show featuring a number of prominent scholars including His Excellency Dr. Muhammed Quraish Shihab, member of the Muslim Council of Elders and Indonesia’s former Minister of Religious Affairs along with Dr. Luqman Habib former Minister of Religious Affairs, Dr. Zainul Majdi member of the Council’s Executive Office, Dr. Mukhlis Hanafi, Head of the Council’s Indonesian Office and Islamic cleric Dr. Muhammed Ariffin.
In Malaysia, the Council’s branch is set to launch a radio program in Malay on Zayan Radio which will be presented by Datuk Senator Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri, member of the Muslim Council of Elders and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Malaysia's former Minister of Islamic Affairs. The program aims to improve communication and cooperation between different facets of Malaysian society as well as providing an introduction to Islamic teachings and its values.
The radio programs fall in line with the Council’s strategy to employ all avenues to promote the values dialogue, peace and coexistence while correcting misconceptions and countering extremism.
