Over 1000 applicants from 75 countries for the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum



The organizing committee of the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, an initiative by the Muslim Council of Elders, announced that it have received over 1000 applications from potential participants hailing from over 75 countries around the world.


A committee is currently reviewing all applications to identify the best participants who will attend the training program scheduled to be held in Geneva, Switzerland from the 6th until the 14th of July 2023 in partnership with the Rose Castle Foundation and the World Council of Churches.


The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam remarked that the high interest from young people worldwide to join the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum is largely due to the success of the initiative’s first edition, which helped prepare exceptional young leaders in the fields of peacebuilding and coexistence.


Abdelsalam also explained that the selection process is based on choosing young people who possess the necessary qualities to constructively participate in peacebuilding around the world. He also noted that chosen participants will be announced on May 15.


The second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum aims to equip its participants with enhanced skills and necessary tools in order to manage differences and create constructive dialogue that resolves conflicts peacefully. The training program also provides a wide space for discovering and implementing various future initiatives that will in turn be backed by the Emerging Peacemakers Forum.
