Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders discusses the role of the media in promoting coexistence alongside Kazakhstan's Minister of Information and Social Development


The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met His Excellency Darkhan Kydyrali, Minister of Information and Social Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan at the Council’s headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The pair discussed potential cooperation as well as the role of the media in promoting tolerance and coexistence. 


During the meeting, Kazakhstan's Minister of Information and Social Development praised the Muslim Council of Elders under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for its role in promoting peace and building bridge of communication between people of different backgrounds through various interfaith dialogue initiatives. Minister Kydyrali also expressed his nation's willingness to foster further cooperation with the council in the fields of human fraternity and coexistence.


For his part, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders affirmed that the Council places a great emphasis on empowering media outlets to spread the values of human fraternity by applying the values within the Media Code of Ethics for Human Fraternity. Abdelsalam also praised Kazakhstan's leading role in promoting interfaith and intercultural dialogue through the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which is an international meeting point for religious and cultural leaders and representatives.


At the meeting's conclusion, both sides emphasized the necessity of unifying global efforts to create purposeful media content that contributes to building future generations capable of positive societal participation. They also praised the outcomes of the conference ‘The Role of Tolerance in Inspiring Investment and Prosperity’ organized by the UAE's Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in partnership with the Muslim Council of Elders which aimed to enhance international efforts towards adopting governmental policies that support all forms of humane values.
