Mama Shamsa, Winner of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2023, Meets Participants at the Emerging Peacemakers Forum
Mama Shamsa: Peacebuilding Requires Sincere Intentions and Fostering Harmony among All People
Kenyan activist Shamsa Abubakar Fadel, known as 'Mama Shamsa' and recipient of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity 2023, expressed her happiness as a guest of honor at the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, held in Geneva in collaboration between the Muslim Council of Elders, the World Council of Churches, and the Rose Castle Foundation.
In her meeting with participants the forum, Mama Shamsa emphasized the importance of the role that young people can play in promoting values of fraternity, peace, and coexistence, stressing that initiating peace-building requires sincere intentions and fostering harmony among people.
The Kenyan activist also shared her inspiring story, highlighting her efforts in empowering youth and women in Kenya. She also discussed her dedication to protecting young people from involvement in violence, crime, and extremism by providing advice, care, and necessary training.
Mama Shamsa urged attendees to be true to themselves and seek divine assistance in achieving peace. She encouraged them to give what they want to receive and emphasized that if they desire peace, they should first create it within their own small circles.
