During the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum - The Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) emphasizes the world's need for the efforts of youth to bring about peace and achieve sustainable development


Rebeca Grynspan Mayufis, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), urged participants of the second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, an initiative of the Muslim Council of Elders, to harness their participation in the forum while emphasizing that the world needs the efforts of youth to bring about peace and achieve sustainable development.


During a seminar  on the forum's sixth day, Rebeca Grynspan Mayufis stated that empowering women is no longer a luxury or a set of societal slogans but has become a tangible and urgent necessity. She expressed her hopes to see women in all leadership positions.


The Secretary-General of UNCTAD explained that her organization's projects always aim to provide greater employment opportunities for youth and encourage institutions involved in reducing unemployment rates.


Grynspan Mayufis also expressed her gratitude to Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, for organizing this important forum, which aims to empower a generation of young people capable of fostering peace and promoting the values of dialogue and coexistence.


The second edition of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, organized by the Muslim Council of Elders under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar in partnership with the World Council of Churches and the Rose Castle Foundation, continue in Geneva from 6 to 14 July, with participation of 50 young men and women from various parts of the world.
