Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders receives delegation from the office of the President of Indonesia and discusses ways to enhance mutual cooperation
The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has received a delegation from the office of the President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo. During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways to enhance cooperation in promoting the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
Judge Abdelsalam expressed the council's appreciation for Indonesia's model of interfaith and intercultural coexistence, as well as President Joko Widodo's efforts in promoting peace in Southeast Asia. He further pointed that the Muslim Council of Elders has launched various initiatives aimed at promoting peace, citizenship and respect among different people.
For her part, Ayu Kartika Dewi, special staffer to the President of Indonesia, expressed her appreciation and acknowledgement of the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders and the council's meaningful initiatives that enhance the role of religious leaders in addressing global challenges, particularly the climate change crisis. She also noter the council's significant achievements in involving youth in promoting and fostering peace while conveying her appreciation for the presence of the Muslim Council of Elders' office in Indonesia, affirming Indonesia's commitment to strengthening the partnership with the council through its Indonesian branch, especially concerning youth-related matters.
