On International Youth Day - Muslim Council of Elders emphasizes the importance of developing the skills of youth for a more sustainable future
The Muslim Council of Elders, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, calls for developing the skills of the youth in order for them to play an active role in addressing global challenges and achieving a more sustainable future.
On the occasion of International Youth Day, celebrated by the United Nations on the 12th of August each year, the Muslim Council of Elders affirms that youth are the pillars of nations and the bright future laying ahead. The Council emphasizes the importance of granting young people opportunities in all areas of development and investing their energies, efforts, and constructive initiatives for a better future for their societies and humanity at large.
The Muslim Council of Elders places significant importance on youth through a number of initiatives it sponsors. These endeavors focus on developing youth skills whilst also enhancing their capabilities, and harnessing their potential to promote and strengthen the values of dialogue, tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity.
The second edition of the 'Emerging Peacemakers Forum, an initiatives by the Muslim Council of Elders, concluded on July 14th and took place in Geneva, Switzerland. The event saw the participation of 50 young men and women from 24 countries around the world with the objective of equipping a generation of youth capable of actively seeking to achieve sustainable development whilst confronting the challenges that threaten humanity and global peace.
