Dr. Al-Haddad stated that over the past decade, the Muslim Council of Elders has made significant contributions to bridging differences between various sects and denominations. This effort culminated in the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity by His Eminence the Grand Imam Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb and His Holiness Pope Francis, the Pontiff of the Catholic Church. The Document has become a global charter outlining how people should cooperate based on shared human values and principles. He noted that the Document on Human Fraternity is the first of its kind in content, establishing the principle of dignified human coexistence, which all divine religions call for, making its implementation a necessary step for all.
He added that the Muslim Council of Elders was established under the generous patronage of the wise leadership of the United Arab Emirates and the chairmanship of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb. The Council includes wise members from the Islamic nation and sages possessing wisdom, knowledge, and counsel. Its role is to reconcile different Islamic sects to cooperate for the good of the Islamic nation and to communicate with other religions to enhance shared coexistence that concerns all humanity. He pointed out that the Council continues its efforts and diligent work to reach all wise people to be partners in this human fraternity, engaging with it for the higher interest of humanity and achieving tolerance and compassion. This is in line with the approach adopted by the United Arab Emirates, which was founded on humanity, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence.
