His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has met a delegation of participants at the 'Freedom of worship, religion and belief' conference hosted by the Embassy of Italy in Cairo.
During the meeting, His Eminence said, "The Human Fraternity Document was written in a humane way which makes it unclear to people who read it as to whether it was written by a Muslim or a Christian."
For their part, the delegation praised Al-Azhar's role in spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence while countering extremist thought. They also pointed to the signing of the Human Fraternity Document in February 2019 in Abu Dhabi, as an important step towards achieving world peace.
