Intellectual, Cultural, and Diplomatic Figures Visit the Council's Pavilion and Praise Its Efforts in Promoting and Enhancing the Values of Peace, Human Fraternity, and Common Coexistence
The pavilion of the Muslim Council of Elders witnessed a remarkable turnout during the initial days of its participation in the Foire Internationale du Livre de Tunis, held from April 19 to 28, 2024, at the Parc Des Expositions Du Kram in Tunis, Tunisia. Several high-profile intellectual, cultural, and diplomatic figures, along with researchers and students of Islamic studies from the Ez-Zitouna University and the University of Kairouan, professors, specialists in various Islamic fields, as well as representatives of publishing houses and public libraries, including those in Tunisian universities and colleges and the National Library, visited the pavilion to explore its latest publications and learn about its initiatives and projects across various fields, especially in promoting and enhancing the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
During their visit to the pavilion, Ambassador Zuhair Masrawi, the Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Tunisia, praised the intellectual and cultural publications of the Muslim Council of Elders and its mission aimed at promoting dialogue among religions, cultures, and peoples, rejecting hate speech and bigotry, and promoting values of tolerance and mutual respect. He expressed his pleasure at the participation of the Muslim Council of Elders in the Foire Internationale du Livre de Tunis, inviting Indonesian students residing in Tunisia to visit this pavilion and benefit from the diverse publications of the council covering various scientific, cultural, and intellectual fields, including creed, Hadith, interpretation, jurisprudence, and ethics, as well as numerous publications promoting peace, human fraternity, common living, and spreading values of love, goodness, and beauty.
Mr. Mohamed Al-Mi, the Director of the Foire Internationale du Livre de Tunis, during his visit to the pavilion of the Muslim Council of Elders, welcomed this active participation of the council and its diverse publications discussing cultural and intellectual fields aimed at correcting misconceptions and stereotypical images of Islam and Muslims, and presenting enlightened Islamic moderate thought. He expressed his anticipation for the Muslim Council of Elders' participation in future editions of the fair.
Additionally, the pavilion of the council received a visit from the Tunisian historian Mr. Ibrahim Shabouh, the Advisor at the Organization of Education, Culture, and Science, who praised the diverse publications of the council and its efforts aimed at reviving the Islamic intellectual and cultural heritage, expressing his appreciation for the leading role played by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, in promoting peace in Muslim and non-Muslim societies, building bridges of communication and mutual understanding with others.
The Muslim Council of Elders is participating for the first time in the Foire Internationale du Livre de Tunis, presenting 160 publications catering to the needs of various audiences. This participation is in line with the council's mission aimed at promoting peace, fostering dialogue, tolerance, and enhancing cooperation among people of different races and beliefs. The pavilion is located in Hall 2, Stand 2508, at the Parc Des Expositions Du Kram.
