His Eminence the Grand Imam emphasized that Islam has honored women and preserved their rights, ensuring their entitlement to education and participation in social and political life. He highlighted the importance of women's role in building nations and societies, and expressed his appreciation for the legacy of Mrs. Megawati and her father, the leader Ahmed Sukarno, Indonesia's first president.
The former President of Indonesia warmly welcomed the Grand Imam on his third visit to the country, emphasizing the significance of this visit for the Indonesian people, who hold great love and respect for Al-Azhar and its scholars. She expressed her happiness at meeting the Grand Imam and her gratitude for being chosen as a member of the judging panel for the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity in its previous edition, among several prominent religious and cultural figures who actively promote peace and human coexistence. She mentioned her role as the head of a scientific body for innovation and inventions, tasked by the Indonesian President, and her anticipation of collaborating with Al-Azhar in developing outstanding research talents across various fields.
The discussion also covered ways to employ artificial intelligence in serving Islamic preaching and religious education, addressing the rise of Islamophobia in the West, and the necessity of adopting a unified Islamic stance to immediately stop the aggression on Gaza.
