The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, met with His Eminence Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders and the spiritual leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus, in Baku, Azerbaijan. The pair discussed various issues related to enhancing Islamic dialogue and the Council's upcoming projects, including preparations for the Global Faith Leaders Summit for Climate organized by the Council and the Faith Pavilion at COP29.
Judge Abdelsalam emphasized the importance of the Global Faith Leaders Summit for Climate, as it brings together faith leaders from around the world along with environmental experts, academics, civil society representatives, youth, women, and indigenous peoples to develop a shared vision to address climate change.
His Eminence Sheikh Allahshukur Pashazadeh expressed his full support for the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders in addressing the challenges facing the Muslim community and enhancing Islamic dialogue. He also praised the Council's active role in promoting and establishing values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence, building bridges of communication and dialogue with others, and activating the role of religious leaders in climate action.
