The Muslim Council of Elders participates for the third consecutive time with a special pavilion at the Indonesia International Islamic Book Fair

In line with its mission to promote peace and strengthen the values of dialogue, tolerance, and human coexistence, the Muslim Council of Elders participates for the third consecutive time with a special pavilion at the Indonesia International Islamic Book Fair



The Muslim Council of Elders is participating with a special pavilion for the third consecutive time at the 22nd Indonesia International Islamic Book Fair 2024, which takes place from August 14 to 18 in the Indonesian capital, Jakarta. The pavilion will present more than 220 publications in various languages, addressing significant intellectual and cultural issues aimed at correcting misconceptions and spreading enlightened, moderate thought.


Among the most notable publications showcased by the Council’s pavilion this year are more than 20 works by His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. These include the three parts of "Al-Qawl Al-Tayyib," "Essential Features of Islam," "A Perspective on East-West Dialogue," "The Return to Faith," "A Message to the Youth," "On Theological and Sufi Terminology," "From My Old Notebooks," and others. Additionally, the Council will present more than 24 new publications, including "Violence and Peace: Towards a Comprehensive Understanding," "The West and Rediscovery of Islam" by Professor Tijani Boulaouali, "Conceptualizing Peace during the European Renaissance" by Dr. Bennacer El Bouazzati, "Interfaith Encounters in Al-Andalus and Morocco" by Dr. Jaafar Ibn Al-Hajj Al-Salami, and others.


The Muslim Council of Elders' pavilion at the Indonesia International Islamic Book Fair will also feature several significant publications that are highly popular with the public at book fairs worldwide, including: "Love in the Holy Quran" by Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders, "The Grand Imam and the Pope and the Thorny Path: A Testimony to the Birth of the Human Fraternity Document" by the Council's Secretary-General, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, "Rules of Understanding and Dialogue from Thought and Language" by Dr. Mustafa Benhamza, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders, and "Studies on the Similarity of Style in Quranic Stories: A Comparative and Analytical Study" by Abdul Ghani Al-Rajhi.


Coinciding with the Muslim Council of Elders' celebration of its ten-year anniversary, the Council’s pavilion at the Indonesia Islamic Book Fair will organize a diverse cultural and intellectual program. This will include a series of seminars discussing various topics, issues, and challenges facing Muslim communities and the world at large, such as the importance of ethics education, the religious responsibility towards climate change, ways to leverage religious values and teachings in promoting global citizenship, and mechanisms for activating the role of media in spreading and enhancing the values of dialogue and human coexistence. These seminars will feature a distinguished group of thinkers and intellectuals in Indonesia, including the esteemed commentator Prof. Dr. Muhammad Shihab Quraish, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders and former Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, Dr. Mohamed Zain Al-Mujdi, member of the Executive Office of the Muslim Council of Elders, Dr. Amany Lubis, President of Syarif Hidayatullah University (2019-2024) and former member of the Indonesian Council of Ulema, Prof. Dr. Abdul Mutti, Secretary-General of Muhammadiyah, former Minister of Religious Affairs of Indonesia, Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, and Indonesian preacher Habib Jaafar.


It is noteworthy that the participation of the Muslim Council of Elders in the Indonesia Islamic Book Fair is in line with its mission to promote peace, reinforce the values of dialogue and tolerance, and build bridges of cooperation among people of different races and beliefs. The Council's pavilion is located in (JCC Hall A&B).
