Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders meets Ambassador of Mexico to the UAE to discuss ways to enhance cooperation in promoting and reinforcing the values of tolerance and human fraternity

The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met His Excellency Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora, Ambassador of Mexico to the United Arab Emirates, at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on exploring ways to enhance cooperation in promoting and reinforcing the values of tolerance and human fraternity.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Secretary-General emphasized that the Council is making pioneering efforts through its various initiatives and activities to spread and solidify the culture of dialogue, tolerance, and building bridges of communication and understanding with others. He noted that these efforts culminated in the signing of the Document on Human Fraternity in Abu Dhabi in 2019 by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, and His Holiness Pope Francis of the Catholic Church. The document serves as a call for all members of the human family to promote peace, mutual respect, and social harmony based on respect for all groups and the safeguarding of their rights.

For his part, His Excellency Luis Alfonso de Alba Góngora expressed his appreciation for the significant role played by the Muslim Council of Elders under the leadership of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb in fostering intercultural dialogue and promoting the values of tolerance, coexistence, and human fraternity on a global scale. He noted that Mexico, with its vast cultural diversity and embrace of various races and religions, places great importance on reinforcing principles of understanding and respect among different cultures and religions. This aligns with the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders in this field, as well as with the principles and values of the historic Abu Dhabi Document on Human Fraternity.
