It is with the utmost sadness and grief that the Muslim Council of Elders announces the passing of its member and former member of Al-Azhar's Supreme Council of Scholars, Dr Mahmoud Hamdy Zakzouk.
The late Islamic scholar had a long and renowned career filled with building bridges of dialogue between East and West as well as leaving behind a great academic legacy especially in the field of Islamic philosophy. Dr Zakzouk joined the Muslim Council of Elders upon its establishment in 2014 and helped achieve its message of peace, coexistence and countering extremism.
The Muslim Council of Elders offers its deepest condolences for the passing of Dr Mahmoud Hamdy Zakzouk and prays to Almighty Allah to have mercy on him while giving his family and loved ones peace and solace during these difficult times.
