UAE Minister of Tolerance presents Grand Imam with Human Fraternity Award plaque
His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has today met with the United Arab Emirates’ Minister of Tolerance, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan along with the Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders Dr Sultan Al Remeithi in Cairo.
During the meeting, His Eminence praised the United Arab Emirates’ capital Abu Dhabi for hosting the ‘Global Conference of Human Fraternity’ which he deemed a resounding success. The Grand Imam also noted the conference’s place as one of the most important avenues for peace in the world today as well as the UAE’s role in promoting tolerance, dialogue and coexistence among people of different religious backgrounds.
For his part, Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak conveyed the UAE’s deep appreciation of the Grand Imam and his efforts towards achieving peace and dialogue around the world. He also added that the Grand Imam’s efforts are of great service to Islam and humanity while also providing a real impetus for other promoters of peace, coexistence and dialogue.
He also presented the Grand Imam with the ‘Human Fraternity Award’ plaque which was awarded to His Eminence and His Holiness Pope Francis on their recent visit to the UAE. The Minister remarked that the Grand Imam is a deserving recipient of the accolade after the historic meeting with Pope Francis and his many other achievements aimed at achieving world peace and fraternity among humankind.
