His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has held a meeting with Dr Abdullah bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Chairman of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Shura Council along with an accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, the Grand Imam thanked the Chairman of the Shura Council for the visit while expressing his gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud for the great hospitality afforded to him during his recent visit to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. His Eminence also prayed that Almighty Allah preserve Saudi Arabia as a nation, as well as its leadership and religious scholars while expressing his appreciation of Saudi Arabia’s role in serving the Arab and Muslim worlds alike.
For his part, the Chairman of the Shura Council congratulated the Grand Imam on his return to Cairo after the recent Umrah pilgrimage and visit to Saudi Arabia, where he met with the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques as well as a number of religious scholars.
Dr Al-Sheikh also expressed his profound appreciation of the Grand Imam as a cornerstone of Islamic thought in the world today. He also praised the Grand Imam’s positions which support the causes of the Muslim world, and are fundamental pillars for those that advocate peace, coexistence and dialogue in the world.
