The Muslim Council of Elders’ stand at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair 2022 has held two discussion panels featuring members of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum. The first session was titled ‘Future of peace among youth, challenges to existence and opportunities to accept others’ while the second held the theme of ‘Youth aspirations towards peace and what peacemakers can offer the world’.
The Secretary General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam praised members of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum for their role in promoting human fraternity around the world. Judge Abdelsalam expressed his confidence that members of the forum will play a key role in building a better future for all, while noting the UAE’s role in supporting such noble initiatives that promote peace and love amongst people.
Meera Al Mheiri from the UAE expressed her appreciation of her membership of the Emerging Peacemaker’s Forum while also praising her country’s role in promoting coexistence through supporting such initiatives and by creating a dedicated ministry for tolerance and coexistence.
Sayed Sherief Sayed from Egypt praised the Emerging Peacemakers Forum for transforming him and his peers from normal everyday people to innovative leaders in their respective communities. Likewise, the initiative inspired Sayed to form the ‘Young Entrepreneurs of Al-Azhar’ which ranked 1st internationally in entrepreneurship.
Khalifa Khalid, General Secretary of the Emirates Students Association, and member of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum announced the launch of a new youth empowerment initiative which will focus on various factors such as: human fraternity and the preservation of values and principles. He stressed his peers’ influence on combating extremism as well as disseminating extremist thought. Khalifa Khalid praised the UAE’s pioneering role in coexistence and pointed to the profound impact the Emerging Peacemakers Forum had on his life. He thanked the Muslim Council of Elders as well as the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity for their respective roles in spreading the values of human fraternity and peace.
The Emerging Peacemakers Forum is considered one of the most prominent initiatives by the Muslim Council of Elders. It features young people from the East and West brought together to discuss their respective roles in creating peace and justice as well as spreading the values of tolerance and coexistence.
The Muslim Council of Elders is taking part at the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair, which runs from 23 to 29 May 2022, with an extensive number of exhibited publications as well as various seminars and discussions at its participating stand.
