The Muslim Council of Elders is set to take part at the upcoming International Publishing and Book Fair in the Moroccan capital Rabat from the 2nd until the 12th of June 2022. This is set to be the 27th edition of the book fair and the council’s third participation at the event.
As part of its extensive book collection on display, the Council’s stand at the International Publishing and Book Fair is set to feature ‘Al Qawl Al Tayeb’ by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. The three-volume book highlights Islam’s tolerance as well as its role in establishing the values of coexistence, peace and human fraternity.
Also present at the council’s stand will be ‘The Pope and the Grand Imam: A Thorny Path’ by the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam. The book documents the birth of the Document on Human Fraternity which was co-signed by His Holiness Pope Francis and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar on 4 February 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
Likewise, the Council will exhibit the Arabic version of ‘Islam, the West, and Tolerance: Conceiving Coexistence’ by Dr. Aaron Tyler, professor in international relations and global affairs at St. Mary’s University in San Antonio. The book focuses on political and religious theories on tolerance and the contributive potential of faith-based civil organizations in conflict transformation and dialogue initiatives.
The Council is also set to host a seminar at its stand titled ‘Human Fraternity: Despite the Challenges’ which will feature French-Moroccan activist and recipient of the 2021 Zayed Award for Human Fraternity Latifa Ibn Ziaten as well as Dr. Samir Boudinar, President of the Center for Human and Social Studies and Research in Oujda. The seminar will discuss challenges facing human fraternity and ways to promote tolerance and how to counter extremism globally.
This is set to the Council’s third participation at the International Publishing and Book Fair, which in turn comes as part of His Eminence the Gran Imam’s vision of promoting dialogue and spreading tolerance and peace around the world.
