His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has today hosted the Ambassador of Denmark to Egypt, Tomas Anker Christensen.

During the meeting, Ambassador Christensen conveyed to the Grand Imam the greetings and regards of Queen Margrethe II, the monarch of Denmark. The Ambassador also expressed his nation’s deep respect for the Grand Imam’s efforts and service towards global peace as well as promoting dialogue among religious leaders and people of different cultural backgrounds.

For his part, His Eminence the Grand Imam thanked the Queen of Denmark and conveyed his warm greetings to her. The Grand Imam also expressed his willingness to support Denmark in its quest to strengthen moderate values and coexistence by the raising the number of scholarships offered to Danish students as well as training Danish Imams to confront extremist ideologies.
