His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has met with Lt. General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the United Arab Emirates as part of the inaugural edition of the ‘Interfaith Alliance for Safer Communities: Child Dignity in the Digital World Forum’ being held in the Emirati capital Abu Dhabi.
The meeting discussed a number of topics most notably; the enhancement of cooperation between security frameworks and religious speech, as well as shedding light on cybercrimes and the complications of modern communications and how it can affect religious and spiritual leaders as well as ways for clergymen to develop their rhetoric in order to protect children around the world from the dangers of the internet.
For his part, the Grand Imam praised the forum which is being hosted by the United Arab Emirates, and the effort being placed towards promoting dialogue between different cultures and religions. His Eminence stressed that such initiatives and efforts can only serve to reinforce the Arab and Muslim worlds.
