His Eminence Dr Ahmed El-Tayeb, Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders hosted Mr Masaki Noke, the new Ambassador of Japan in Cairo.
During the meeting, His Eminence congratulated the new ambassador on his appointment and wished him well in his diplomatic mission.
The Grand Imam also welcome the academic and cultural exchanges carried out with Japanese universities as well as the increased number of Japanese students at Al-Azhar University along with Japanese Imams being trained on contemporary issues.
For his part, the new Ambassador of Japan to Egypt issued an invitation to the Grand Imam to visit Japan while stressing that his country is eagerly anticipating His Eminence’s visit, to learn from his views and knowledge. The Ambassador also noted that the Grand Imam is one of the most influential peacemakers in Egypt and the world, who also heads the highest Islamic authority which promotes moderateness globally.
