Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders meets Kazakhstan's Ambassador to the UAE to prepare for Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions


The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam has met the Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Arab Emirates Madyar Menelikov at the Council's headquarters in Abu Dhabi. The meeting discussed possible cooperation opportunities and preparations for the upcoming 'Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions' which will take place in September in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nursultan.


Ambassador Menelikov expressed his country's appreciation of the Muslim Council of Elders under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar. He noted the Council's leading role in spreading peace and tolerance while countering hate and extremism as per the Document on Human Fraternity, which was co-signed by the the Grand Imam and His Holiness Pope Francis in 2019 in the capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi.  The Ambassador also said that he looked forward to His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb taking part in the upcoming 'Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions' in the capital of Kazakhstan, Nursultan. 


For his part, Judge Abdelsalam reinforced Kazakhstan's important role in countering extremism in central Asia while expressing the Council's willingness to cooperate with the central Asian state to promote human fraternity and coexistence through various dialogue initiatives such as the Emerging Peacemakers Forum.
