Grand Imam receives Astana International Award for efforts in Interfaith Dialogue
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan His Excellency Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has awarded His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders the Astana International Award for his role in promoting interfaith dialogue and spreading the values of peace and human fraternity. The award was presented during the opening ceremony of the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in the Kazakh capital Nur-Sultan.
President Tokayev expressed his pleasure at presenting the Grand Imam with the prestigious Astana International Award as he is considered to be one of the most important Islamic symbols in the field of humanity. The President thanked the Grand Imam for visiting the Central Asian nation, which is always a momentous occasion for the people of Kazakhstan.
The Kazakh President also revealed his deep admiration of His Eminence as well as his international efforts in promoting peace and dialogue between followers of different religions.
