Under the Chairmanship of the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Muslim Council of Elders expresses its utmost condemnation of the tearing and burning of the Holy Quran by extremist settlers in the Palestinian city of Al-Khalil. 

The Council strongly denounces such vulgar actions that fuel violence and hatred while disrespecting religious sanctities. Such actions also undermine any possible peace efforts by destabilizing societies and disregarding basic human values. 

The Council calls for effective measures to be put in place to stop these callous attacks on religious sanctities in order to achieve mutual respect amongst people.
