The Muslim Council of Elders’ stand at the Frankfurt Book Fair is set to host a total of seven seminars addressing issues related to hate-speech, extremism and ways to counter them as well as spreading the values of peace and coexistence.
The first seminar is set to be ‘Pluralism and Coexistence in Islamic thought in light of the Document on Human Fraternity’ by Abdelmalek Hibaoui, President of the German-Moroccan Council. This is set to be followed by ‘Coexistence between Religions’ by Dr. Mahmoud Abdullah, researcher in the fields of religions, spiritualism and interreligious dialogue at the University of Tübingen as well as ‘Document on Human Fraternity - A Christian Arab Reading’ by ‘Professor Assaad Kattan’, Professor in Orthodox theology at Wilhelms-University in Münster.
The fourth seminar is set to be titled ‘The Question of the Other’ by Professor Jamal Al Deen bin Abdul Jalil, Professor of Religious Fundamentals and Religious Education at the Ludwigsburg University of Education followed by ‘Understanding Citizenship - In Theory and Practice’ by the researcher in Fiqh and Comparative Religion at Paderborn University, Mohammed Abdul Raheem. The final two seminars at the Council’s stand are set to be ‘Hate-speech against Religions - A Reading and Understanding’ by Dr. Yasser Suleiman, researcher in Religious Discourse at Aachen University as well as ‘Countering Racism - A Deeper Look’ by Abdul Samad Al Yazidi, Secretary-General of the Central Council of Muslims in Germany and Dr. Jürgen Miksch, Director of the Abrahamic Forum in Germany.
This is set to be the Council’s fourth participation at the Frankfurt Book Fair which runs from 19 to 23 October 2022. The participation comes as part of His Eminence the Grand Imam’s vision of promoting dialogue and spreading tolerance and peace globally.
