Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders takes part in 8th ‘International Meeting of Dialogue and Prayer for Peace among World Religions’ in Rome


The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam is set to take part in the 8th ‘International Meeting of Dialogue and Prayer for Peace among World Religions’ in the Italian capital, Rome.


The meeting, which is being organized by the Community of Sant'Egidio, is set to feature a number of religious leaders from around the world and will discuss the role of religions in promoting dialogue, peace and coexistence in light of contemporary global challenges. 


Judge Abdelsalam’s speech is set to focus on joint actions and the responsibility of concerned international organizations with regards to promoting global peace. Also on the table will be the Muslim Council of Elders’ efforts in spreading tolerance and countering all forms of racism, extremism and hate while highlighting the importance of the Document on Human Fraternity, co-signed by His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders alongside His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church in Abu Dhabi in 2019 under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates. The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders will also touch on how the Document continues to bear fruit through the Council’s efforts in promoting tolerance and human fraternity globally.
