The Muslim Council of Elders’ stand at the Cairo International Book Fair has hosted the third seminar as part of its events program. Titled ‘ Peace Meet & Greet’, the seminar was presented by Canon Sarah Snyder, the founding director of the Rose Castle Foundation, who discussed the role of young peacemakers in promoting coexistence and human fraternity.
During the seminar, Snyder stated that the Emerging Peacemakers Forum is one of the projects initiated by the Muslim Council of Elders in collaboration with the Rose Castle Foundation with the aim of preventing conflicts, spreading peace globally, and promoting mutual understanding, peaceful coexistence, and genuine friendship, which are values that are encouraged by all major religions.
Snyder also stated that the Emerging Peacemakers Forum is a striking example of how knowledge may be applied to advance the path toward peace, which Snyder said is the solution to all of the world's issues and conflicts. In order for their journey toward promoting peace to continue for years to come, Forum members were encouraged to share and apply the experience and knowledge that they had previously attained with others.
Snyder also commended the Emerging Peacemakers Forum for helping to facilitate the meeting between Dr. Justin Welby, the Archbishop of Canterbury, and His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders. She remarked that the two religious leaders are a shining example of true friendship and respect, which she hoped would be passed on to future generations. Snyder also commended the Grand Imam for his support of young peacemakers and efforts to advance international peace.
The Council’s participation at the Cairo International Book Fair comes as part of His Eminence the Grand Imam’s vision of promoting dialogue and spreading tolerance and peace globally as well as building bridges of cooperation with people of all backgrounds. The Council’s participation at the Cairo International Book Fair can be located in Hall 4 next to the Al-Azhar stand at the Egypt International Exhibition Center.
