Under the Chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, the Muslim Council of Elders strongly condemns statements made by the Israeli Occupation’s Minister of Finance Bezalel Smotrich denying the existence of the Palestinian people while displaying a map of the Occupation which included land belonging to the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan as well as occupied Palestinian territories. 

The Council reiterates its categorical rejection of the Israeli Occupation’s attempts to distort realities whilst committing repeated infractions against the Palestinian people. The Council also calls on the international community to take a decisive stand in support of the Palestinian people to rightfully achieve statehood with Jerusalem as capital of an independent Palestinian state.
