As part of its activities at the Cairo International Book Fair 2024, the Muslim Council of Elders hosted a panel discussion presented by a group of young graduates from the Emerging Peacemakers Forum initiative. The session focused on the role of dialogue and understanding as means of constructive collaboration, emphasizing the importance of activating the youth's role in the peacebuilding process and addressing issues related to peace and development.
During the session, the graduates engaged with questions raised by the attending youth, sharing their experiences and success stories in social work. They discussed their concepts of peace and their roles in disseminating this concept within their communities, starting from families and expanding to their surroundings and the world. Additionally, they exchanged opinions about their individual roles in peacebuilding through raising awareness, promoting mutual understanding, and actively participating in peace and development initiatives. They emphasized the promotion of a culture of tolerance and cooperation, working towards effective communication among diverse segments of society.
At the end of the session, the participating youth expressed their happiness in connecting with the graduates of the Emerging Peacemakers Forum, appreciating the initiative for its pioneering and inspiring efforts. They affirmed their determination to continue their journey towards achieving peace and making a positive impact in their communities.
The Emerging Peacemakers Forum is one of the initiatives of the Muslim Council of Elders aimed at enhancing the role of youth in peacebuilding. The second edition of the forum took place in Geneva last year, providing a platform for young people from different countries and cultures to meet, fostering an environment of tolerance, peace, and love. The forum aims to facilitate communication, dialogue, and the development of innovative and sustainable solutions for peace, as well as launching national and regional initiatives and projects related to peacebuilding and the promotion of values such as tolerance and human fraternity in their societies.
