Prof. Dr. Nazir Ayad, the Secretary-General of Al-Azhar's Islamic Research Academy, extended his congratulations to His Eminence Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar Al-Sharif and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the establishment of the Muslim Council of Elders.
Dr. Ayad emphasized that since its inception, the Muslim Council of Elders has undertaken commendable tasks and made diligent efforts that have contributed to promoting peace and harmony among people. The Council has promoted the noble principles of Islam, which advocate for tolerance and peaceful coexistence among all religions and cultures and has reinforced Islamic fraternity among the components of the nation, amidst the formidable challenges faced by the Arab and Islamic nations.
The Secretary-General of the Islamic Research Academy also expressed his appreciation for the pioneering efforts of Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, the Secretary-General of the Council, in enhancing cooperation between religious and cultural institutions around the world. He commended Judge Abdelsalam’s support for the values of peace and tolerance, as well as the practical implementation of the Document on Human Fraternity, signed by the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Pope Francis on February 4, 2019, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. This document serves as a strong starting point for consolidating the principles of human fraternity and joint cooperation in humanitarian work.
