Mufti Taganuly: This is a greatly important day 

His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has met Kazakhstan's Grand Mufti His Eminence Shaykh Nauryzbay Kazhy Taganuly in the run up to the 7th Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions which is being held in the Central Asian country's capital Nur-Sultan. 

Mufti Taganuly expressed his gratitude at meeting the Grand Imam, and described the occasion as a "greatly important day". The Mufti also acknowledged Al-Azhar's important role ins supporting Kazakhstan's Islamic identity through the number of scholars that have graduated from the institution. 

For his part, the Grand Imam thanked the Republic of Kazakhstan for their warm welcome and hospitality on what happens to be his second visit to the Central Asian nation. His Eminence also asserted Al-Azhar and the Council's readiness to support Kazakh students and clerics going forward.
