His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders has departed to the Kingdom of Bahrain for a visit and to take part in the ‘Bahrain Dialogue Forum: East and West for Human Coexistence’.
Amongst the Grand Imam’s delegation is Dr. Mohamed Eldawny, Deputy of Al-Azhar alongside Dr. Salama Daoud, President of Al-Azhar University and Dr. Nazir Ayad, Secretary General of the Islamic Research Academy and Dr. Abbas Shoman, former Deputy of Al-Azhar and Dr. Mohammed Al-Mahrasawi, former President of Al-Azhar University and Dr. Khadra Salem, Professor at the Faculty of Humanities at Al-Azhar University and Dr. Nahed Yousif, Dean of the Islamic and Arabic Studies Faculty for Girls at Al-Azhar University in Mansoura.
The forum is held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, King of the Kingdom of Bahrain and will be attended by His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church alongside 200 religious leaders and prominent academic and media figures from around the world.
During its sessions, the forum is set to discuss, 'Importance of Interreligious Dialogue', 'Experiences of Promoting Global Coexistence and Human Fraternity', 'Peaceful Coexistence and 'The Role of Religious Leaders and Scholars in Addressing Contemporary Challenges: Climate Change and the Global Food Crisis'.
The final day of the Forum is set to witness three speeches by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa of the Kingdom of Bahrain, His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders and His Holiness Pope Francis, Pontiff of the Catholic Church.
