Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders Meets the Spiritual Leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus to Discuss Issues Facing the World and Ways to Enhance inter-Islamic Dialogue


The Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, met today with His Eminence Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh, member of the #Muslim_Council_of_Elders and the spiritual leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus. The meeting discussed various issues facing the Islamic nation and the challenges confronting the Islamic world, as well as ways to enhance Islamic dialogue.


During the meeting, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders affirmed the Council's commitment, under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, to engage with global issues affecting Islam and Muslims. He emphasized the Council's relentless efforts to promote peace and address all forms of violence, extremism, hatred, and discrimination, in addition to strengthening the role of religious leaders and symbols in facing global challenges, including climate change.


For his part, the spiritual leader of Muslims in Azerbaijan and the Caucasus expressed his appreciation for the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders and its invitation to convene the Global Summit for Religious Leaders and Icons, scheduled to be held in Abu Dhabi in November. He also praised the Council's collaboration with the United Nations Environment Programme, the Catholic Church, and the Presidency of COP28 in organizing the Faith Pavilion at COP28, a first in the history of the Conference of the Parties.


His Eminence Allahshukur Pashazadeh, who also serves as a member of the Muslim Council of Elders, lauded the anticipated visit of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, to Iraq, and the potential contributions it can make to enhancing inter-Islamic dialogue and unifying the Iraqi people, as well as reuniting the Islamic nation. He also commended the efforts of the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, in globally promoting the Council's message aimed at enhancing peace and spreading the values of dialogue, tolerance, and coexistence.
