Director General of the UAE Council for Fatwa Commends the Faith Pavilion as a Unique Initiative Hosted by the UAE Celebrating Human Values and Coexistence

His Excellency Dr. Omar Habtoor Al-Darei, Director General of the UAE Council for Fatwa, was received by the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders, Judge Mohamed Abdelsalam, at the Faith Pavilion in COP28. The Faith Pavilion, organized by the Muslim Council of Elders in collaboration with the Presidency of COP28, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in the UAE, and the United Nations Environment Programme, is taking place from December 1 to 12 at Expo Dubai.


During the visit, the Director General of the UAE Council for Fatwa learned about the activities and events organized by the Faith Pavilion at COP28, praising the efforts of the Muslim Council of Elders under the chairmanship of His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, in organizing the Faith Pavilion as a unique initiative hosted by the UAE. This initiative, he noted, celebrates human values and coexistence, establishing an effective model in aligning religious values with the path of development and sustainability.


For his part, the Secretary-General of the Muslim Council of Elders welcomed the visit of the Director General of the UAE Council for Fatwa, emphasizing that the organization of the Faith Pavilion at COP28, the first of its kind in the history of COP conferences, reflects the commitment of the UAE and its wise leadership to enhance communication between different religions and cultures to discuss global challenges, with a primary focus on climate change.


The Faith Pavilion at COP28, organized by the Muslim Council of Elders in collaboration with the Presidency of COP28, the Ministry of Tolerance and Coexistence in the UAE, and the United Nations Environment Programme, will host around 65 dialogue sessions with 325 speakers and representatives from 9 religions and 11 institutions from around the world from December 1 to 12.
