His Excellency Professor Muhammad Quraish Shihab, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders: “Human beings are tasked with responsibility because they are the vicegerents of God Almighty on Earth, blessed with capabilities and abilities that are unique to them.”

In the Ramadan Program "Humanitarian Values with the Muslim Council of Elders," His Excellency Professor Muhammad Quraish Shihab, a member of the Muslim Council of Elders and a distinguished scholar and former Minister of Religious Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, has stressed that human beings are God's honourable creation, favoured above many others. He emphasized that humans bear responsibility as the stewards of God Almighty on Earth, equipped with unparalleled potential and capacities.
In the first episode of the second season of the "Humanitarian Values with the Muslim Council of Elders" program, which is broadcast daily throughout Ramadan on the Council’s social media platforms, Dr. Shihab mentioned that there are several types of responsibilities. Foremost among them is the responsibility before Allah, the Exalted, to fulfill His commands and abstain from what He prohibits. Additionally, there is a responsibility towards humanity, which encourages cooperation among all members of society to establish peace, security, and safety, and to combat all forms of injustice, poverty, and hunger.
The Muslim Council of Elders member further explained that there is also an individual responsibility towards one's nation to protect it and strive for its progress and prosperity. There is a responsibility towards the family as well, which aims to provide care, support, and security to family members. Lastly, there is a responsibility towards oneself, where one must bear the consequences and results of their actions and words.
His Excellency Dr. Shihab emphasized the importance of everyone fully embracing their responsibilities with sincerity and dedication, and performing their roles with awareness and devotion in serving God and humanity.
During the blessed month of Ramadan, the Muslim Council of Elders offers five diverse programs through its official social media pages: "Imam Al-Tayeb," "Humanitarian Values with the Muslim Council of Elders," "Month of Harmonious Coexistence," "Reflect on Your Fasting," and "Humanitarian Stories with Youth." This initiative aligns with the Council's strategy to leverage all platforms to foster peace and promote the values of dialogue, tolerance, and human coexistence.
