In the ninth episode of the program "Human Values with the Elders" - His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab, member of the Muslim Council of Elders: Humility is an authentic Islamic and human value that brings peace of heart and respect among people
His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab, member of the Muslim Council of Elders and esteemed scholar, as well as former Minister of Religious Affairs in the Republic of Indonesia, emphasized that humility is an authentic Islamic and human value. He pointed out that a humble person gains peace of heart and respect among people.
During episode nine of the "Human Values with the Elders" program, broadcasted daily throughout the month of Ramadan on the Muslim Council of Elders' social media platforms, His Excellency Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab stated that humility is a quality demonstrated by those who possess abilities and talents but exhibit them with humility and gratitude to Allah. Quoting the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), he said: "Allah says: 'Pride is My cloak and greatness is My robe, so whoever competes with Me regarding one of them, I will throw him into Hellfire.'"
He added that it is essential for individuals to treat others with kindness and respect, without arrogance or boasting about their talents, wealth, or social status. Humility should reflect the true essence of a person, directing gratitude and appreciation towards Allah for everything bestowed upon them.
Dr. Muhammad Quraish Shihab concluded by emphasizing that humility is one of the noblest virtues a person can possess. It embodies noble human spirit and enhances positive communication and cooperation within society. He called for the application of this value as a fundamental approach in daily life, reminding everyone that everything a person possesses is a gift from Allah, to be used in the service of goodness and love in the world.
Building on the Muslim Council of Elders' strategy to utilize all media platforms in promoting peace and spreading the values of dialogue, tolerance, and human coexistence, the Council is presenting five diverse Ramadan programs broadcast daily through its social media pages: "Imam Al-Tayeb," "Human Values with the Elders," "Month of Harmonious Coexistence," "Reflect on Fasting," and "Humanitarian Stories with Youth."
