Rev. James Winkler
Dr. Winkler, former President and General Secretary of the National Council of Churches, USA, has led a diverse range of initiatives, including interfaith dialogues, justice ministry and advocacy, faith and order discussions, and Christian formation programs. Before heading the National Council of Churches, he served as the General Secretary of the United Methodist General Council for Church and Society, the social justice and public policy advocacy branch of the largest mainline Protestant denomination in the United States. Dr. Winkler holds a Master of Arts in History from George Mason University, along with honorary doctorates from Claremont Theological Seminary and Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
