He is the President of the Italian Islamic Foundation. In 2010, he became a member of the European Council of Religious Leaders (ECRL). Since 2005, he has served as a consultant to the Italian Islamic Council, appointed by the Ministry of the Interior of the Italian Government. In 2014, he was appointed as the ISESCO Ambassador for Dialogue between Civilizations. In 2018, he became an executive member of the World Council of Muslim Communities, representing interfaith dialogue.
