Former Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, Ambassador and Diplomat
Dr. Mustafa El-Feki
He is the former Director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (2017-2022), having also served as Secretary to the President of Egypt for Information and Director of the Media and Follow-up Office of the Presidency of the Republic. He holds a PhD in Political Science from SOAS, University of London (1977).
His diplomatic career includes several key roles: "Excellent Ambassador" at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry in 2000, Ambassador to Austria, and Permanent Representative to multiple international organizations in Vienna, including the International Atomic Energy Agency, Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization, United Nations Industrial Development Organization, UN Headquarters III in Vienna, and the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. He was also a Non-Resident Ambassador to Slovakia, Slovenia, and Croatia (1995-1999), and held positions as Ambassador to the Egyptian Foreign Ministry (1995), Minister Plenipotentiary (1987, through exceptional promotion), Counselor at the Egyptian Embassy in New Delhi (1979-1983), Vice Consul and Second Secretary at the Egyptian Consulate General in London (1971-1976), and began his career as a Diplomatic Attaché at the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1966.
