His Excellency Dr. Amr Moussa


He is an Egyptian diplomat, born in October 1936, who began his career as an attaché in the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1958. He served in various departments and missions, including the Egyptian mission to the United Nations from 1958 to 1972. In 1974, he was appointed as an advisor to the Foreign Ministry and later became the Director of the International Organizations Department in 1977.

In 1981, he became Egypt's delegate to the United Nations in New York, and in 1983, he was appointed as Egypt's ambassador to India. He returned to serve as Egypt's permanent delegate to the United Nations in 1990. He led the Egyptian Foreign Ministry for ten years before being selected in mid-May 2001 as Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, serving from 2001 to 2011.
